Sheffield Scenester met up with Neil Hargreaves, the brains and driving force behind Sheffield Band, the new music website for all aspects of Sheffield Music. We decided to meet up and have a drink and a chat down at Brezza’s, we all arrived at the same time, Neil was accompanied by Rebecca Fearnley and so with a few cappuccino’s and a cup of tea, the chin-wag began.
Turns out Neil has been running websites for quite a while now, he told us about one he has devoted to Sheffield Wednesday as well as another one concerning the history of Sheffield, so no subject is too obscure for him to tackle. With an obvious passion for all things Sheffield, the Sheffield Band website is dedicated to everything and anything around the Sheffield music community. It seems quiet a daunting thing to undertake….but with plenty of experience, Neil has gone ahead and done it!
The site itself is set up as a kind of forum so that bands, venues, studios, musicians……..really the list goes on, but the point is they can all get together via this site and advertise their wares. Simply put if you’re a band and you need a new guitarist then look up the ‘Musicians/Singers Needed’ section and post your requirements, if you need somewhere to practice there’s a section for that and so on. As well as that they do in fact have a section covering gig reviews and even interviews, so anyone can essentially post a quick blog about a gig they’ve been to with the added bonus of feedback so anyone can then go ahead and have their say too! Obviously this is a lot of work, but the site itself seems to be fully operational and is easy to navigate through, take a look here…
keep a lookout for some Sheffield Band and Scenester collaborations!
